IGI Esports qualified for the 10k CS:GO tournament and we take a look at what happened along with results.

Before the event there was a lot of talk about the seedings. IGI were seeded 6th much to the dismay of some of the players but there was a system in place which Epic LAN stuck to.

Regardless of the seed, IGI still had to face off against the established CEX organisation consisting of 5 top UK players so it was going to be an uphill battle.

With this match on HLTV, there was quite a viewing with many people predicting a 2-0 sweep for CEX and after the first map who could blame them. CEX winning NUKE (IGI's pick) 16-8 and then going into INFERNO (Cex's pick). However, IGI's strong T Side and pistol round win on CT put themselves in a fantastic position with no fight back from CEX. IGI shocking the UK scene with a 16-9 win to tie the series 1-1.

So, it was down to TRAIN. A close first half 8-7 with IGI going into T-Side. CEX started the second half in dominant style quickly getting into 13-8 lead. IGI kept themselves in the game but with match point at 15-12 they had to win 3 straight. IGI grabbed two rounds to get it back to 15-14 and in the last round faked A for a B plant, CEX read it perfectly to win TRAIN 16-14 and the series 2-1

IGI's owner had this to say "We are super proud of our players at this event, we couldn't have asked for more. Hopefully this team will be taken seriously in the future, we are definitely going to work alongside them for as long as we can"
